EarthCheck, the global leader in science-based benchmarking and certification for the tourism and travel industry, is preparing to launch a new, state-of-the-art software platform for sustainability audits and certification.

The software has been tailored to meet the rigorous demands of quality-assured certification programs, supporting trust, managing risk and upholding operational standards in today’s carbon-conscious economy.

Developed in collaboration with Intact, a global leader in audit and certification software, the new platform will deliver a complete end-to-end digital solution for the planning, delivery and management of sustainability audits and certification processes. Its modular, flexible architecture will maximise efficiency and adaptability across a wide range of client needs.

Among its key innovations is an AI-powered analysis tool, which will help identify operational hotspots and interpret critical audit data. The platform will not only streamline reporting, but will enhance organisational learning through robust data analytics, helping EarthCheck clients drive continuous improvement and demonstrate measurable sustainability outcomes.

Stewart Moore, Founder and CEO of EarthCheck, said the launch comes at a time when transparency and independent verification are increasingly essential to business success.

“As sustainability claims come under increasing regulatory scrutiny, robust and independently verified certification is more important than ever,” Mr Moore said. “Transparency, accountability and third-party verification have become fundamental business principles. Our new platform is designed to deliver on those expectations.”

Thomas Lorber, CEO of Intact, said the partnership marked a significant step forward in advancing credible sustainability outcomes across the global tourism sector.

“We are thrilled to partner with EarthCheck, a global leader in science-based sustainability certification,” Mr Lorber said. “Their commitment to innovation and accountability in the tourism and travel industry perfectly aligns with our mission to deliver trusted and efficient certification solutions. Together, we are supporting a more transparent and resilient future for sustainable travel.”

EarthCheck’s platform comes as new regulatory frameworks raise the bar for sustainability disclosures. In Europe, the proposed Green Claims Directive, the Omnibus Consumer Protection Directive and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) are introducing tougher requirements to ensure sustainability claims are evidence-based, independently verified and professionally managed.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has issued guidelines requiring listed companies to improve ESG disclosures, particularly those in high-impact sectors. Additionally, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) has rolled out new mandatory environmental disclosure rules for certain enterprises, aligned with the government’s broader push for carbon neutrality by 2060. These rules emphasise quantified environmental performance, public transparency, and third-party verification – principles that closely align with EarthCheck’s science-based approach to certification.

Australia is also undergoing major reform. The upcoming climate-related disclosure regime will expand the Corporations Act, requiring large companies to report on climate risks, greenhouse gas emissions and transition plans. The reporting framework is being phased in from FY2024–25, aligned with international standards set by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

Dr Steve Newman, Chief Sustainability Officer at EarthCheck, said the platform is designed to empower businesses to not only meet, but exceed, the stringent standards now expected in today’s competitive markets.

“We’re not just launching new software – we’re delivering a transformational tool that redefines how businesses approach certification and quality assurance,” Dr Newman said. “It’s a powerful reflection of our commitment to innovation and operational excellence.”

Key features of the new EarthCheck platform include:

  • Integrated certification framework: Supports robust, science-backed assurance aligned with EarthCheck’s standards
  • Advanced digital reporting: Delivers clear insights and enables informed, real-time decision-making
  • AI-powered data analysis: Helps interpret audit results, identify risk areas and optimise performance
  • User-friendly design: Combines intuitive navigation with powerful functionality
  • High-level security: Ensures data integrity and privacy, meeting global regulatory requirements

The new platform will launch in July.

“We expect to see significant efficiency gains and measurable improvements in audit quality from day one,” Mr Moore said.

“With this platform, EarthCheck is setting a new benchmark for assurance in the sustainability sector.”

Acknowledgement
of Country

There are more than 476 million Indigenous Peoples, found in all regions of the world, from the Arctic to the tropical forests. They make up more than 6 per cent of our global population.

In the spirit of reconciliation, EarthCheck acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout the world and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Indigenous Peoples today.

EarthCheck acknowledges that Indigenous Peoples are guardians of the forests and biodiversity hotspots we all depend on. Research shows that lands managed by Indigenous Peoples, with secure rights, experience lower deforestation rates, store more carbon, hold more biodiversity, and benefit more people than other lands — including protected areas.

We recognise and support the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the most comprehensive international instrument on the rights of Indigenous Peoples. The Declaration is a positive document that maps out a path for Indigenous Peoples to be free from discrimination and secure in their identities and life choices.
