The Langham, London celebrated their Gold Certification in late 2014 after five years of benchmarking and certifying their environmental and social performance under the EarthCheck Standard.

‘The Langham London, known as the first ‘Grand Hotel’ in Europe when it opened in 1865 will be celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and has continued its tradition as one of London’s most prestigious establishments with this achievement that marks them consistently superior to others in their sector in reduced resource consumption and increased community contribution.
EarthCheck Certification provided The Langham, London with a framework for environmental and social sustainability. This included requirements specific to their management systems, such as quality, environment, occupational health and safety, risk management and corporate social reporting.

Mr. Walters noted, “The Langham, London embraces Langham Hotels & Resorts mission to be one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable hotel groups in the world. We have undertaken many initiatives to improve our environmental and social performance. For instance, we support our local community by purchasing all perishable goods from local sellers. We also encourage our staff to participate in fundraising activities throughout the year, with a 100% participation rate.”
The Langham, London also ensures no hotel waste is sent to landfill. From 2008 to 2013, The Langham, London minimised enough waste to fill 53 standard shipping containers.
