EventCheck is an easy to understand approach to enhance and measure your sustainability (or carbon footprint for the more advanced) before, during, and after the event. By using the EventCheck Toolkit you are taking the first steps to assess your current practices, prepare an action plan, and work with key stakeholders to deliver more sustainably, whilst reducing your carbon footprint and generating a positive social impact.
The EventCheck process begins with the development of a simple policy to guide the strategic approach to your sustainable events journey. The toolkit provides you with easy to edit templates to help. The next step includes using templates for data collection, carbon footprinting, a risk management matrix, and action planning. The process supports event organisers/hosts to implement monitoring, measuring, and managing of social and environmental impacts. By using the EventCheck Toolkit you will minimise your negative impact and enhance the positive contribution your event makes to your community.
The extent of the process and detail of documentation is subject to the complexity of the individual event scope, including the level of environmental and/or social risk. We help you develop a roadmap tailored to your organisation’s event and meeting needs; from basic measurement through to full decarbonisation and formal reporting. EventCheck is aligned to the International Standard ISO 20121:2012 “Event Sustainability Management System” and “A Net Zero Roadmap for the Events Industry”, both of these map to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We recognise and support the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the most comprehensive international instrument on the rights of Indigenous Peoples. The Declaration is a positive document that maps out a path for Indigenous Peoples to be free from discrimination and secure in their identities and life choices.
EarthCheck science and products were developed by the Australian Government Sustainable Tourism Co-operative Research Centre (STCRC) over ten years. Our science is reviewed annually to ensure that it meets international standards relative to greenhouse gas protocols, responsible tourism, and certification.
