EarthCheck ECO – Certified
EarthCheck ECO - Certified is an advanced program for those operators wishing to be recognised at the highest level of Ecotourism practices globally.
Independent assessment and certification to internationally recognised standards inspires stakeholder confidence and drives organisational resilience, competitive advantage, innovation and growth. By working with EarthCheck, the operator will create, enhance or align policies and documentation of procedures such as risk assessments, waste management plans, interpretation requirements and internal audits.
The program will showcase to participating operators how EarthCheck can assist their team to measure, organise and report their environmental and social management processes across the business. The program will require the operator to measure, monitor and make ongoing improvements in the key performance areas including Energy Consumption, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Potable Water Consumption, Waste Sent to Landfill and Community Commitments.
EarthCheck ECO - Certified will assist management teams to measure, organise and report their environmental and social management processes across the organisation. By measuring their operational performance, the program will enable the team to manage their outcomes and set priorities to achieve bigger operational efficiencies which can lead to operational cost reduction and a minimisation of their environmental footprint.
In doing so, they have an ability to improve their regulatory compliance in areas such as environmental emissions, energy efficiency and waste management, and as such can offer opportunities for cost reduction. The creation of an effective environmental and social management plan reduces risk, provides assurance to stakeholders and delivers brand benefits.
EarthCheck’s proven methodology will assist operators in both marine and terrestrial parks in organising all of their activities which might otherwise be conducted in a more ad hoc manner and will help them to harmonise their approach across their various departments. EarthCheck Certified provides a consistent, structured approach to the management of environmental and social affairs.
Each operator that is participating in the EarthCheck ECO Certified program will also have access to a highly skilled Relationship Manager. Relationship Managers act as the key point of contact for members of the EarthCheck ECO Certified Program for technical support and program information. They also assist with the coordination and administration of EarthCheck Benchmarking Assessments and Certification schedules and processes for defined regions.
Annual fee is AUD$4,800 excl of GST. Onsite audits are required every year AUD$2,420 Day 1 and AUD$1,650 per additional day. Audit length is determined by size and operator risk profile.
Auditor travel expenses are in addition to certification fees. To ensure travel expenses are kept at a minimum, Certification Services are conducted on a regional schedule in order to streamline Benchmarking and Certification within a region, and reduce auditor travel costs for both our members and on the environment.
